Ruth Ratney
An influential voice in Chicago's film industry, Ruth Ratny got her start as a producer in post-production, earning an Emmy for her work. In 1979 she founded the advertising and film publication Screen Magazine, serving as editor and publisher until she sold it in 2001. In 2004 she founded the online publication ReelChicago.com, where she continued editing and writing until her death. Ratny was honored many times for her work, including being named Chicago and Midwest Ad Woman of the Year, and was picked for the Today's Chicago Woman 100 Hall of Fame. Other honors included being a recipient of the Chicago Film Festival's Hugo Legend award in 2010, and a Chicago Film Critics Association award.
